Amy Coney Barrett 👏

Saturday was a great day for America. The President nominated an exceptionally qualified woman to the Supreme Court. Amy Coney Barrett will make an excellent Justice, make sure the Constitution is upheld, and make America proud on the highest court in the land.

In the build-up to the announcement, America saw Amy Coney Barrett as a loving mother. We saw her walk to her car with her husband and seven kids, two of whom are adopted. One of her adopted children held the hand of her youngest child, who has Down syndrome. At the announcement itself, her family joined her on the stage in a truly beautiful sight. If confirmed, Judge Barrett would be the first Supreme Court Justice with school-age children

The announcement focused on Judge Barrett’s outstanding qualifications. She has decades of experience as a professor, lawyer, and judge. A former clerk to the late Justice Antonin Scalia, Judge Barrett currently serves on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, after being confirmed in a bipartisan vote in 2017. She has a record of protecting the Second Amendment and defending the Constitution as written.

Judge Barrett’s colleagues have widely praised her. During her 2017 confirmation, her colleagues at Notre Dame Law School signed a letter saying she is “a model of the fair, impartial and sympathetic judge.” Her fellow former Supreme Court clerks unanimously signed a letter saying: “We are Democrats, Republicans, and independents, and we have diverse points of view on politics, judicial philosophy, and much else. Yet we all write to support the nomination of Professor Barrett.”

Democrats will try to paint her as an extremist and a threat to Americans’ rights, but nothing could be further from the truth. Judge Barrett will protect the American people’s fundamental liberties and the Constitution that guarantees them.

Rather than blindly oppose Judge Barrett, Democrats should dwell on the wisdom of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whose seat Judge Barrett would fill: It is “good for the public to see that women come in all sizes and shapes, just as men do, and they don’t necessarily look alike or think alike.”

Judge Barrett deserves to become Justice Barrett as soon as possible. Sign Stand for America’s petition supporting her confirmation!
